Ever wondered how the wizarding world handles their investments? We’ve consulted the top goblins at Gringotts for their take on the investment personalities they associate with Hogwarts’ esteemed houses.

Gryffindor

The house of the brave, loyal, courageous, adventurous, daring and chivalrous. Those who stand up for others are typically Gryffindors. “Do what is right” is their motto. While Gryffindors are known for being brave of heart, this also means they have a lot of nerve when it comes to other aspects of their lives. You’ll find many investing in venture capital, looking for the next unicorn. They’re not afraid of high-risk portfolios, with many including currency and high-yield bonds.

Ravenclaw

This house is known for their wisdom, intelligence, creativity, cleverness and knowledge. Those who value brains over brawn can be found here. Ravenclaws often tend to be quite quirky as well. “Do what is wise” is the motto they strive to follow. You can bet that most of them having been putting away retirement money at Gringotts since they entered Hogwarts at age 11. Can you say compound interest? They are also drawn towards balanced investments, like an exchange-traded fund with stocks and bonds.

Hufflepuff

This house values hard work, dedication, fair play, patience, and loyalty. Hufflepuff’s are known for being just and true. “Do what is nice” is their motto. These are the investors who believe in a long-term investment strategy that they’ll stick to, regardless of ups and downs. You’ll find most of them investing in clean energy and corporations that support the preservation of earth’s natural habitats.

Slytherin

Slytherins are cunning, prideful, resourceful, ambitious, intelligent, and determined. Slytherins love to be in charge and crave leadership. “Do what is necessary” is the motto of this house. If that means betting on mortality derivatives, so be it. We also wouldn’t be surprised to find a few members of this esteemed house trying to buy up chunks of the Forbidden Forest as a real estate investment. Good luck evicting those centaurs.
